It’s here.
The newest addition to our lineup of skin care remedies and products is our Baby Boomer Peel. The whole month of January we are focusing on bringing up the fresh skin cells that have been lingering underneath the dead cornea layer (the outside layer of skin) which we call a buildup of dead skin cells. This is an accumulation of wrinkles or crows feet around the eyes that those of us that are self conscious are extremely aware of.What’s so special, you ask? Let’s see what the Boss (Kimberly) has to say about her experience so far with the peel…
“In the event that we desire to remedy the aging process, I chose to take on “the Baby Boomer peel”. Yes, I was determined to remove this dead layer of skin basis the recommendation of our skin care therapist at Indulge Salon on S. george street in york, PA. She told me that I would look younger (key word for me) and that this would last about a month. Before beginning the process, she gave me some information that she thought would be helpful for me to understand about “the peel”. I trusted her and let her tell me all the information but I didn’t realize how valuable and super intelligent she was until the 3rdday of “the peel”. Boy, did I appreciate her even more when my skin was starting to peel. I digress.
Let’s start from the actual service that I had with her on Saturday, New Years Day. I laid on her treatment table and awaited the service. She said, “this will take about 10-20 minutes”. I said “what about the massage” because I was so ready to relax and be pampered. She said no massage it would be to aggressive. I was disappointed. What she did explain was that the process requires you come in with the knowledge that this treatment is three steps. (how did I miss this?) She explained the first step is to come in for a thorough facial, massage, extractions if necessary to remove the white and black heads. The second treatment which is the following appointment, normally a week after the interrogation of the nose and face, is to receive your cleansing. You need to remove all makeup from the night before or, in general, the dirt from the day, and then apply the appropriate level of peel. I say that specifically because she gave me the Baby Boomer peel. Whoa! Already categorizing me into a group. Drat. Obviously, that is why I’m in the roon receiving this aggressive peel to take the top layer of my skin off and to endure the next few days feeling like my face is going to burn off. As she applied the peel, she told me “this may burn a little”. Right! It felt like burning fire!!! She told me mine was stronger than most. I said thank you very much……I then immediately had the fan blowing directly on my face to tone down the fire blazing feeling I was experiencing. I couldn’t get that cool air close enough. Mind you, this was only a minute my skin was frothing. New word ladies. Frothing. This means the chemical peel will actually have a light film on the skin. No its not like a mocha frappe at the local coffee shop where it froths up.
After about ½ a minute, she uses a warm cloth to remove the light film and my skin feels so much better. Aah..she continues to rinse it and does other magical procedures and instructs me how to use it. She actually gave me instructions on paper. I was cool with this. I felt like I’m going to look amazing at my conference next week. She gave me a sunscreen which is ESSENTIAL to the safety of your skin. She gave me a gentle cleanser from Guinot which is amazingly gentle and not harsh. She kept reminding me not to pull the skin pieces off while peeling during the day. It will feel tight like your skin will crack. It will feel like you want to keep peeling off the skin. I feel compelled, what can I say. I hate a loose end. I like things nice and neat. Seriously girls, don’t mess with those loose ends. Continue to moisturize with a protective barrier and whatever else the skin care specialist tells you to do because she knows. I listened. She told me this is like new baby skin. I agree, after 4 days. It still burns a little, but I love my skin feeling incredibly soft. I think this process has been worth it.”
So, here’s the bad news: you’ll have to go through a little rough patches of pain in order to get a GREAT end result. In the next couple of days we’ll have a follow up post with the “after” pictures from Kimberly’s Baby Boomer Peel at Indulge Salon in York, PA.
